Forum Tanya Jawab 63: Bagaimana Siswa Bisa Menentukan Kurikulum?
By Prof. Marsigit

This article is very inspiring. It is not impossible if students helped
develop a curriculum in the country. Although the paradigm in different
countries of course is different but the experience as it has been
described Mr. Marsigit can be considered to be applied in Indonesia in
the future, would have to pass the criteria appropriate to the situation
and condition of the students. At present curriculum applied in
Indonesia was made by the government and educational experts that
actually they do not know or do not understand the conditions that exist
in the field today. So that officers in the field in this case is the
teacher, just as device to convey what they (police makers) want
regardless of the condition, interests, and abilities of students,
because basically their interests, talents, and abilities that children
is different so difficult to put together only with the curriculum. So
often when we find a teacher to teach the class only pursue teaching
load has been given to him, focus on the material that has been set and
prefer the cognitive aspects. I think it just makes the students become
depressed because not given the freedom to develop their own ways of
thinking. Learning from experience in the article above, the teacher
should be able to create an innovative learning process by involving the
students as subjects in the learning process in the classroom, for
example by creating a different worksheet for students with different
interests and abilities and different possible outcomes.
